Many buildings are historical relics, representing human civilization, and as carriers of art, provide a unique esthetic of regional culture, including spiritual symbols. Although protected using traditional means, the spiritual and cultural connotations of historical buildings have been gradually forgotten owing to modern culture. Focus has been solely on sightseeing of historical buildings, and their spiritual and cultural values have been ignored. These problems cannot be solved using traditional conservation methods. Meanwhile, with the development of modern society, including the Internet, advanced digital technologies such as geomatics, oblique photography, close-range photogrammetry, 3D laser scanning technology, and virtual reality have been developed and extensively applied; thus, the protection and internal significance of historic buildings can be expanded using digital technologies. The rapid development of media convergence has provided the feasibility of greater protection of historical buildings and artistic integration. From the perspective of oblique photography, combined with relevant cases and software foundations, this study updates and improves the projection system design of historical buildings. By analyzing relevant theories and key technologies, this study aims to realize the unity of the theory and practice of a projection system design and provide a reference for historical building protection and artistic expression.
