The increase in elderly mothers increases the risk of infant death and the probability of congenital diseases. Accordingly, children"s congenital and genetic diseases are increasing, and as a result, the need for children"s hospitals tailored to children"s characteristics is increasing. However, the children"s hospital currently in operation does not show any difference from general hospitals, and there is no space for children and their guardians. In addition, patients and guardians spend longer time in public spaces such as waiting spaces, rest areas, and lobby than in treatment spaces, so this study intends to design around the public spaces of children"s hospitals. Children who visit the hospital feel psychologically and physically anxious, so they need to create a healing environment that can maintain and heal psychologically and physically, as well as just waiting space. An effective way to do this is to apply the biophilic, or life love theory. Therefore, this paper intends to design a public space for children"s hospitals based on biophilic design expression elements as a healing environment. Through this study, it is hoped that the public space of children"s hospitals will be able to solve the above problems and help psychological health as a space that reflects the characteristics of children"s patients and their guardians.
