Child-rearing Experiences of Uzbek Mothers in Korea:A Netnographic ApproachShukurova Mekhriniso Inoyatulloevna Abstract: The purpose of this study was to reveal the child-rearing challenges faced by foreign families residing in Korea and to elucidate the role of online communities in resolving them. The study focused on the case of Uzbek mothers living in Korea and conducted netnography for more than six months. The evidence from the analysis showed that expectant and new Uzbek mothers relied more on the experiences and guidance of the mothers who have been living in Korea for a relatively long time. Here online communities have replaced physical ones to form a sense of togetherness in dealing with the child-rearing challenges in a foreign country. The results of the study suggest that young, inexperienced foreign mothers residing in Korea need more professional and reliable information support in child-rearing. The study implies that the target of pre-and postpartum including infant care services in Korea should be expanded to the foreign mothers as well.
