Leisure activities such as travelling provide mental and physical relaxation and restoration from the psychological perspectives. Travel also makes a very positive contribution to heightening happiness of individuals. Travel motivation is originated by the needs such as escaping from daily lives and taking a rest, self-development etc.
This paper aims to confirm various desire of respondents for travelling with changes in tourism trend of local and international tourists and under the situation that tourists are unable to go on a trip as travel has been paused across the world due to COVID-19. For an empirical analysis, this paper selected local tourists with experience of boarding a plane as survey targets. After distributing Google Online Questionnaire to respondents, total 277 sheets were used for the final analysis. Survey results show that people with higher involvement in travel motivation act by interpersonal motivation and cultural motivation when visiting a tourist attraction. Especially, airlines need to cope with new style and culture of air travel by reflecting creative insight and thinking in an emergency such as COVID-19. Active promotion of airlines are necessary for making customers recognize and have interest in efforts of airlines by implementing various events for customers who travel abroad by air.
