The main purpose of this paper is to examine the cultural exchange between North Korea and Eastern Europe by analyzing the travelogue and translation literature that was included in the ‘Joseon Literature’ since the political warfare in July 1953.
Through this, this paper has expanded the investigation on the cultural exchange of North Korea that used to be centered around the Soviet Union and China toward other nations, and examined what inuence North Korea has exchanged through the World Literature network in laying the foundation of socialism structure and restoration aer the Korean War.
In addition, this study has examined the overall process of how each North Korean litterateur have built their perception-within-world through the cultural exchange with Eastern Europe that restarted aer the war.
Such research is valuable in that it re-examines the international relationship with North Korea, which used to be known as having a closed relationship, based on the interaction with the Eastern Europe network, and it is an attempt to holistically capture the trajectory of cultural exchange of the entire Korean Peninsula by extending the boundaries of Korean literature research toward the ‘Socialism World Literature.’
