This study shows that there are some contexts in which a pro can be licensed in English, although it is usually known that English does not permit a pro. After showing that there are some transitive constructions in which objects are missing, this paper shows that they share the properties that (i) the verb may not have a transitive head and (ii) the object is recoverable. The major claim made in this paper is that pros cannot be easily found in English because they are not strong enough to trigger labeling via feature sharing, but they can be licensed when (i) they are not assigned Case and (ii) the Case problem is repaired via deletion at PF. Furthermore, this study claims that pros can be deleted if they are recoverable.
