The main purpose of this study is to explore university students’ preferences and aversions for team projects. Various variables, including gender, major, military service, and frequency of team project participation, are examined, focusing on personality and motivation. Especially, the study investigates the influence of each personality type indicator in the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) on students’ team project experience and perception. The findings are as follows. Sentiment analysis revealed predominantly negative emotions among university students towards team projects. No significant differences were found in preference for team projects among various factors such as major, gender, age, and military service. However, there were differences in the perception of the importance of collaboration among all groups. Students with more team project experience had a more positive perception of preference for team projects, self-efficacy, and the value of cooperation. While there were no significant differences in the preference for team projects among MBTI personality types, differences were found in self-efficacy and the perception of the importance of collaboration. Based on these findings, the study suggests practical ways to establish a positive team project culture in the university setting.
