This article explores the literary features of self compiled chronicles in the Qing Dynasty. It discusses that the Chronicle is a very popular style of historical writing in the Qing Dynasty, and a large number of self compiled chronicles written by scholars in Qing Dynasty have both the historical value and literary value. Through careful reading of specific documents, It suggests that the writing purpose of self compiled chronicles in Qing Dynasty is to record the authors' achievements and life experiences; the main content of these self compiled chronicles is authors' own experience of studying and being an official, as well as national events and social customs; the narrative themes of these self compiled chronicles include life and death, destiny, officialdom and seclusion. It also describes that the authors of self compiled chronicles in the Qing Dynasty were often able to use a variety of ancient writing techniques and expressive language, which greatly enhanced the literary value of the chronicles and paved the way for the emergence of modern Chinese biographies.
