The purpose of this study is to develop a scale that systematizes the concept of smart tourism in the travel industry and its components and sub-elements for the first time, and to this end, a scale was developed by applying a stricter standard by performing a qualitative study, which is an inductive research method, and a quantitative study method, together. To this end, both qualitative and quantitative research methods were performed. Renowned Nvivo 9 was used as the representative software for qualitative research, and the semantic structure of the extracted text was elaborated by conducting focus group discussion (FGI) and expert opinion surveys together. Nvivo analysis is a software that focuses on content analysis, and as a result of the performance, 25 questions of 5 factors were first derived, and then using this, FGI and expert opinion surveys were conducted, respectively, and the final 5 factors and 19 items were derived through qualitative analysis. Finally, a quantitative statistical method was performed to re-verify the reliability analysis and validity analysis of the 5 factors 19 items finally extracted from the qualitative analysis, and 5 factors and 19 items were finally developed. The five factors were derived as technical integration, convenience, information, smart infrastructure, and reliability. Theoretical and practical implications were provided centering on the developed scale.
