Materials and Methods: This study included the medical records of patients with disabilities who visited the department of pediatric dentistry of Jeonbuk National University Dental Hospital over the past five years from 2018 to 2022. Results: Total 665 patients with disabilities were included in this study. Based on the medical records, the data were evaluated according to age, sex, type of disability, and type of dental treatment. Out of 665 patients, 65.3% were male, and 34.7% were female. The most common age group was 5 - 9 years old (42.7%). The most common disabilities were intellectual disorder (48.5%), followed by brain lesion disorder (21.5%), autism (16.8%), and speech disorder (6.0%). Preventive treatment and periodontal treatment were the most common treatments (56.0%), followed by direct restorative treatment (22.1%). Approximately one-third of patients (27.2%) were treated under sedation with medications or general anesthesia. Compared to non-disabled patients, the number of visits by disabled patients increased every year, comprising about 21.8% of visits in 2022. Among the patients visiting pediatric dentistry for the first time, disabled patients accounted for 23.3% in 2022. Conclusion: The demand for dental care among people with disabilities is increasing. Therefore, there is a need to increase the number of specialized dentists and dental facilities to meet this demand.
