This study aims to develop marketing strategies and secure a competitive advantage in the beauty industry by verifying the mediating effect of the perception of vegan customized cosmetics on the relationship between ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management and purchase intention. An online survey was conducted from December 15 to 29, 2023, targeting 200 men and women aged 20 and above. The data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 26.0 and AMOS version 26.0. The influence of ESG management on the perception of vegan customized cosmetics was revealed as significant for the first time in this study, with all hypotheses being confirmed to have a significant positive effect. ESG management was found to have a positive impact on purchase intention, and the perception of vegan customized cosmetics also had a positive impact on purchase intention. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the perception of vegan customized cosmetics has a partial mediation effect on the relationship between ESG management and purchase intention. The results obtained from this study can serve as valuable groundwork for developing marketing strategies targeting consumers interested in eco-friendly and vegan customized cosmetics. Since ESG management positively influences consumers" purchase intentions, cosmetic companies should strive to adopt ESG management practices, develop plant-based active ingredients, use biodegradable packaging materials, and simplify cosmetic packaging. In conclusion, fostering a culture that creates sustainable values to protect the environment and animals, and enhancing awareness of ESG management, can aid in developing strategies that increase consumers" purchase intentions for vegan customized cosmetics. Additionally, follow-up research should be conducted to provide consumers with accurate knowledge about ESG management and vegan customized cosmetics, and to assist them in selecting vegan customized cosmetics suited to their individual skin conditions with precise information.
