The purpose of this study is to provide basic data on the establishment of health promotion policies to prepare for the aging of Korea, focusing on the contents of projects promoted by the ministries and agencies among the elderly sports policies in Japan. The findings show that Japan''s health promotion policies based on sports have the following characteristics: First, the Fun + Walk Project by the Bureau of Sports was connected to the Smart Life Project by Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare in the aspect of preventive medicine to increase the effectiveness of the projects. Each local government pushed forward health promotion policies for multiple generations and age groups in a systematic manner by introducing the Health Point system. Second, comprehensive community sports clubs provided supports and nurturing within the community so that individuals of multiple generations and age groups could participate in sports. They were especially commissioned to carry out the care prevention project by Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare. Finally, various paths were utilized among the departments of the administration to increase the efficiency of policy projects related to the health of the elderly that used to be managed in a closed way by their respective departments. These findings imply a need for South Korea to push forward specific policies for elderly sports via various paths under the goal of promoting health among multiple generations and age groups in the aspect of preventive medicine by connecting projects of Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, local governments, and Korea Olympic Committee.
