The purpose of this study is to evaluate the achievement of the goal of the public sports club promotion project in 2020 and 2021 and to provide implications for the success of the public sports club promotion project and propelsion of the registration and designation sports club support project by the Sports Club Act to be promoted in the future.
As a result, the public sports club promotion project was evaluated to have achieved visible results based on the government’s full financial and administrative support. Specifically, first, unlike the existing sport for all clubs, the size and members of public sports clubs has increased, the age of members has diversified, and the number of sports events has increased. Second, public sports clubs can be an alternative to nurture elite athletes in terms of the diversity of the events of the athletes’ class, enhancement of the performance of the athletes’ class and virtuous cycle player excavation. Third, the role of public sports clubs in the community has expanded, such as diversity of program composition and ease of participation in the program. Fourth, the job creation effect of the athletes such as the rate of securing paid leaders of public sports clubs and the job search rate of retired athletes was high.
However, It is necessary to improve the fact that compared to the government’s large budget, the target of the public sports club promotion project is only 0,002%, the age of members is not diverse in each club, the age and level of each operating item is insufficient compared to the diversity of operating items, virtuous cycle player excavation within public sports club is small, and the securing of paid leaders can shrink the financial burden and volunteer system.
