Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the performance trends of female professional golfers participating in the G-Tour tournament, organized by the KLPGA, over an 11-year period (2012–2023). All available data from this timeframe were included in the analysis, excluding the mixed men’s and women’s matches held in 2019.
Method: Player performance data were analyzed using SPSS version 12.0 for Windows. Five dependent variables were defined: average score, driving distance, fairway accuracy, greens in regulation, and putting average. Differences among the variables were assessed using one-way ANOVA, with the level of statistical significance set at p < .05.
Results: The results were as follows: Average Score: The average number of strokes was 75, which further decreased to approximately 72 strokes in 2023, down from about 77 strokes in 2012 (p < .05). This indicates that the golf skills of KLPGA players have improved. Driver Distance: The average driving distance was 203 meters, showing a continuous improvement from approximately 198 meters in 2012 to about 210 meters in 2023 (p < .05). This reflects an enhancement in the performance of KLPGA players. Fairway Accuracy: The average fairway accuracy was around 75%, improving from about 70% in 2012 to 75% in 2023 (p < .05). This suggests an increase in shot accuracy among KLPGA players. Green Regulation: The average green regulation was approximately 65%, starting at about 67% in 2012 and reaching 70% in 2023, demonstrating continuous improvement (p < .05). This indicates enhanced performance by KLPGA players. Putting Average: The putting average was 1.8, which steadily decreased from 1.98 in 2012 to 1.80 in 2023 (p < .05). This signifies an improvement in the putting abilities of KLPGA players.
Conclusion: The performance records from G-Tour tournaments involving KLPGA players indicate a consistent improvement in golf performance, marked by increased power, accuracy, and skill sophistication over the 11-year study period.
