The purpose of this study is to examine the phenomenon of nouns functioning as impersonal predicatives in modern Russian from the perspective of transposition and syncretism. It also evaluates the impact of this phenomenon on Russian sentence structure and identifies the communicative effects of noun predicative usage.
The category of state refers to static situations and morphologically appears as invariant forms, serving as predicatives in impersonal sentences. In most cases, noun predicatives emerge as a result of a transposition known as predicativization. Nouns are used as impersonal predicatives while reflecting varying degrees of predicativization. The higher the stage of transposition, the greater the degree of lexicalization, allowing them to be used independently or in combination with dative arguments, thereby reliably functioning as predicatives in impersonal constructions.
Nouns that function as impersonal predicatives are abstract nouns with evaluative or modal semantic components. They often represent human emotional states, ethical evaluations, or modality related to necessity and possibility.

Compared to ‘–о’ type predicatives, noun-predicatives provide a definitive description of a state and enhance expressive effect. Additionally, internal linguistic factors, such as the development of grammatical copulas, can be cited as reasons for nouns acquiring predicative functions. Noun predicatives reflect the characteristics of contemporary language, where functions shift to achieve new semantic effects, consequently reorganizing sentence structures.
