This paper investigates the extended usage of “qilai(起來)” in the Chinese speech of reporters and interviewees in the Yanbian TV News program, and analyzes the distribution of the example sentences with different extended usage of “qilai(起來)”. It is found that the simultaneous use of “V/A qilai(起來)” has the function of “public initiative”, which reflects the pragmatic effect of seditious and propagandist in TV news language. Because some monosyllabic verbs have multiple meanings, they can be combined with “qilai(起來)” to express different extended meanings. In addition, among the various extended usages of “qilai(起來)”, the sentences that indicate gathering and concentrating the meaning account for the largest proportion, and “A qilai(起來)” that indicates the initial meaning and the growth of the state degree also have a large proportion. “V qilai(起來)” means that the subject is often omitted in the spoken language when a certain aspect is explained and evaluated, which has strong flexibility in syntax. Since there is almost no corresponding form to the extended usage of the Chinese complement “qilai(起來)” in Korean, it is undoubtedly difficult for students to learn this language. At present, the level of machine translation cannot meet the needs of learners. Therefore, it is still necessary for Chinese teachers to clarify the extended meaning of “qilai(起來)” through the context, refine verbs meaning, attach importance to the “public initiative” usage of “V/A qilai(起來)”, and promote students to it in practice progressively.
