This study aimed to examine the effects of child care teachers'' job satisfaction and social support in workplace on burnout and present an improvement scheme to help child care teachers prevent and reduce their burnout. For this purpose, a self-administered survey was conducted among 312 child care teachers working at child care centers and t-test, ANOVA, Duncan''s test, correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis were carried out to analyze the data.
According to the results, the lower satisfaction with colleague relations, job properties, satisfaction with wage, and social support in workplace, the higher level of emotional exhaustion for child care teachers. The lower satisfaction with job properties and satisfaction with social recognition, the higher degree of dehumanization for child care teachers. Job satisfaction and social support in workplace had no effects on an insufficient sense of personal achievement for child care teachers.
These results suggest that various teacher-related programs should be provided to get positive social supports from personnel in workplace who have a good understanding of child care job and can establish a mutual understanding in order to decrease burnout among child care teachers. It is also necessary to constantly improve treatment to help child care teachers increase satisfaction with wage and social recognition.
