The name of this meditation tool called as Singing Bowl by people from various backgrounds was introduced as Buddha Bowl. Its grounds and history throw back to the time when Buddha was alive. Metallic materials used to make Buddha Bowl are related to the five elements in Buddhist teachings, which showed that it was the symbol of Five Dhyani Buddha-jn?na(五禪定佛智-Amitabha, Amogha siddhi-Buddha, Aksobhya-Tath?gata, Ratna-sambhava, Vairocana) and Five wisdoms(五智-all-discerning marvelous wisdom, all-performing wisdom, the mirror-like wisdom, the equality wisdom, the wisdom of the Dharma-realm of the Great Buddha Vairochana in the center of the great cosmos).

Buddha Bowl of today is peppered through the entire word and used as means of assistance for meditation and cure.
Vibration of Buddha Bowl reminds of heart beat. Therefore, it connects us to humane affection and love and leads our inside view to a deeper dimension. Here lie a sense of profound spiritual being, a boundary line between vibration of sounds and slowly-disappearing silence. Ultimately, it awakens us with inaudible sounds.

70% of our body consists of water. When the vibration of Buddhal Bowl sound is felt in the body, Buddha Bowl releases the vibration that purifies negative energy that is an obstacle to completely physical, mental and spiritual health. It already is healing and relaxation. The more beneficial effect to regain balance and health through body relaxation is the invisible power of vibrating Buddha Bowl combinated with prayer.

Modern science showed that ‘wave’ influenced on the earth and the whole universe. Scientists studying on quantum mechanics, one area of physics, said that the universe could resolve itself into atom and molecule, particle and a wave of energy, and these particles and waves were difficult ones to explain with common sense. The fact that waking mind could play an important role was scientifically proved by Tibetan monks’ mental and spiritual asceticism.

Thus, this study suggested that the practice of Buddha Bowl that could induce a state of relaxation of mind and body using sound energy by deep waves and self-compassion and loving-kindness program of the way taught by Buddha could build mental muscle and self-development of wisdom and mercy based on a belief in Buddha’s teaching would have a huge influence on psychical cure towards emancipation from grasping and suffering(離苦得樂) and abundant benefit for all living things(饒益衆生), which are the Buddhist teachings.
