Poetry is a medium in which the human being attempts to grasp themself in order to attain a feeling of sense, a profound understanding of oneself, one’s relationships and one’s life in the world. As with music, it is one of the deepest-reaching forms of human expression in the artistically creative shaping & designing of a human theme – joy or suffering. Literature and poetry are media that are able to guide us to an in-depth understanding of ourselves, our relationships and the way we act in the world. “The reader is the poet’s twin,” writes the poet Hilde Domin. Poetry consequently has an easing effect in the form of a healing power, especially with people whose ability to resonate is limited. In experiencing beauty and creativity, people encounter themselves as persons acting in a self-determining manner on the path to an “inner sovereignty”, a path on which the person becomes aware of their abilities and possibilities within the context of their lifetime and the world they live in.
