The purpose of this study was to compare children's psychological states between the securely attached and insecurely attached children based on their KFD scores.
One hundred children were assessed by the ASCT(Attachment Story Completion Task) to select subjects. Among them, 39 were classified as the secure attachment group and 38 as the insecure attachment group. The KFD(Kinetic Family Drawing) was administered to compare their psychological states. The data were analyzed by tests to compare the two groups.
The study results revealed that children's drawings showed significant group differences in Characteristics of Features, Activites, Style, and Symbols. For Characteristics of Features, the insecure attachment group had higher scores on Shade and Omitting Family Members than their counter-parts. For Activites, the two groups showed significant differences in all items. For Style, the insecure attachment group had higher scores on Division and Surrounding than their counter parts. For Symbols, the insecure attachment group drew round shapes more frequency than the other group.
The study showed that the insecure attachment group tended to perceive their family members negatively, and expressed more negative emotions than those in the secure attachment group.
