This study examined to compare child's attachment to mother with to father. And also this study investigated the prediction of child's attachment to parents-child relationship and infant's socio-emotional development. Attachment to mother and father were assessed by AQS(Attachment Questionnaire Set; Waters, 1987) when the children were 2 years old. After 12months, mother-child relationship, father-child relationship and child's socio-emotional competence were assessed by questionnaire.
The degree of concordance in the classification of child-mother and child-father attachment was 71.6%. It was found that children with two insecure attachment showed more confliction in mother-child relationship and more axious-aggressive behavior than children with discordant attachment and two secure attachment. This finding suggests that a secure attachment to one parent can compensate for or buffer against an insecure attachment to the other parent.
