The study ot Korean costume in the coming-ot-age ceremony(冠禮).
For boys, the coming-ot-age ceremony means allowing them to wear their hair in a knot(冠) and the crown Off. The coming-ot-age ceremony tor girls called Kyerye(상투), Its counterpart means allowing them to do their hair In a chlgnon(쪽) with the ornamental hairpln(비녀). In the coming-ot-age ceremony beginning in children's clothing(童子服), they was recognized to be reborn as adult by elevating their level through samga(三加) ceremony, wearing the best ceremonial adult dress and having their minor name ja(字), received upon becoming adulthood.
In the procedure tor the comlng-ot-age ceremony ot take on/off weare (加冠改服) through samga(三加), a total ot 4 pairs ot clothes are needed trom children's clothing(童子服) to the tormal dress(禮服) worn at the time ot samga(三加). Dresses are not only almost represented by the characteristics ot each era but also clearly distinguished according to the relative Importance weight ot dresses and social status. Theretore I would like to classity Korean costume In the comlng-ot-age ceremony and Investigate the comlng-ot-age ceremony In terms ot the relative importance weight ot dress by social class and by era In this study.
This study ranged trom the Koryo Dynasty(高麗) with the remaining records concerning the hosting ot the
coming-ot-age ceremony to the present,(lovekljollnlm)
This study used the literature meterial review method.
