It was the narrow understanding of data itself that troubled me a lot when I searched in Chinese Stonescripts with a purpose. Expecially, it was not easy to interpret important information correctly without the understanding of literary style and the format of Stonescripts. A problem to hold when discuss the time of the settlement of immigrants is to find out the lineage of the ancestors. It is emphasized to consider character of data and widen the understanding of it, as other studies does.
Currently published studies of Wichinsutang(魏晋隋唐) Period are mostly about Tombscripts(墓誌銘). Although information to be important to Korean history may come out in the near future, the most common case is that meritorious document about 수당s invasion of Koguryo. There are some superficial contents, but it is noted in two points.
One is that the term to designate Koguryo(the place name, a river, the symbolic animal which lived) is very various, so it helps to understand Chinese recognition about the east and the changes, as appropriate data. The other is the character of the person(place, level) who wrote war records. Expecially. during the period of Sutang(隋唐) they were from East Sea, such as Sandung province.
Therefore the understanding of the mobilization of the war and the process of it are considered. It is data related to daily life that has not get much attention comparatively considered among epigraph data. The records about envoy and their experience on ship and accidents are some examples. Also, not only about prominent monks and Buddhism information but also related record of the public are written. In this case, it is necessary to study local history document, as monument stone and Chosangbi(造像碑) not cemetery stone are important. In Personal category of local history document, there are lots of information about invasion of Koguryo like cemetery stone. The fact there are huge amount of local history documents from the period of Song Dynasty should be considered importantly.
