1. Current Situation of Content Research
We can see the new trend of interdisciplinary convergence especially in the arena of Content research. Indeed, the essence of digital content itself is covering the media technology, some emotional and mental value of human and also several images of culture. Owing to these multiple characteristics of digital content, the academic research of content have been requiring very apparent tendency of mutual collaboration out of many experts and stakeholders in the real case of content. In short, the research of content is showing real trend of great convergence which is mega trend of the new economy in this new century, new millennium.
2. Outline of Korean Strategic Policy for Content Business
Korean government and leaders in the content industry is now trying to design the concept of 'Hub' that is representing global competitiveness in this arena. Korea is pursuing the industrial leadership dominating the whole content industry, which could be separated into 3 segments, Information Content, Knowledge Content, and EntertainmentContent. To achieve that goal, Korea makes endeavor to replace the resources of old industry like manufacturing and outdated field of IT industry onto the new field, Content industry under a national grand design.
3. Strength of Content Business in Korea
The content industry of Korea is rapidly growing. The market size of the industry was almost 4.5 billion dollars in 1997. The size became more than 15 billion dollars in 2002. The ratio of content industryin terms of GDP also had leaped from 1.3% in 1998 to 3.27% in 2002 in just 5 years.
4. Conclusion: Implement 'Hub Strategy'
The ideal strategy to strengthen content research and business could be the way to implement the following four tips.
1) Connecting the core competence of IT and newly emerged area, Digital Content
2) Acquiringthe global leadership by opening content market including film, broadcasting, advertising, education and so on
3) Building a big single and consolidated brand of content industry just like Walt Disney by actualizing alliance, collaboration
4) Creating new trend and style of content work by the hands of real creative professional such as planner, project manager, producer, director
