As a result of our country’s expanded economy and export-oriented economic growth during the last two decades, the volume of maritime cargo has increased remarkably. Ports, at this juncture, have made a great contribution to the national economic growth by serving as a link between land and maritime transport of import/export cargo.
The objectives of this port lie in providing domestic users with best service and minimizing cost incurred per unit through the port. To this end, not only appropriate planning and proper investment, but also efficient management that utilizes existing facilities to the utmost extent should be focused upon. Therefore better man agement of seaports should be carried out to achieve the improvement in the port management in the near future. And so, this study aims at conceptualizing the meaning of port management, grasping major forms of advanced port management. and establishing at developing direction of management and administration of Pusan Port.
Main emphasis is given to this study as follows.
Firstly, the general view of meaning of port management.
Secondly, grasp of major forms of adavanced port management and administration.
Thirdly, actual condition and functional problems of Pusan port management and adminis tration.
Fourthly, Long range development direction of port management organization.
