Memory involves incorporating highly organized and emotionally significant information into a sense of the continuity of reality. Meaning and the making of meaning depend intimately upon memory. The power of memory is the power of life itself, and the cave of memory is the lair of soul and the dwelling place of meaning. Memory is generally divided into three types: sensory memory, short-term memory, and long-term memory. Information is passed from sensory memory to short-term memory by attention, thereby filtering the stimuli to only those which are of interest at a given time. Sensory memory acts as a buffer for stimuli received through the senses. Short-term memory, referred to as "primary," "working," or "active" memory, is the part of the memory that stores a limited amount of information for a few seconds. Long-term memory is intended for storage of information over a long time. Information from the working memory is transferred to it after a few seconds. Unlike working memory, there is little decay. In discussing memory related to Christian education, this paper first explores memory from theological, neurological, and cognitive scientific perspectives. Next this paper deals with memory structures and its functions. In conclusion, this paper examines some strengths and weaknesses of memory-related approaches(CINT model and Sabbathing model), and proposes the BBCE(Brain-Based Christian Education) model.
