Pansori is a representative folk art as a concrete reflex of the general public's life. Its words are formed by story of the populace, and a folksong is only genre for the people.
As a folk art, it is a very important to know relationship with Pansori and folksong which is Korean folksong.
Folk song has its own function like expression people's emotions and strong will when someone is doing a work or they want to show real mind to other people.
In tills paper, I'm concerned about this subject and make an inspection of understanding to cognitive faculty of a folk song.
It's possible to know the folk song has its own function in Pansori, like Moshimneun-sori which is a fanner was singing when Lee doryoung came back to Namwon, Shim bongsa's Agiureunun sori which is a song for Kwack-si-buin's funeral, those are a singer has sung with right situation and development of the story.
But almost all of Pansori's poetic diction has some specific function which is changed to develop a story and it's possible to know to see changing words.
Based on this, we can see folk singing has functional part in the Pansori words, arrange with it.
1. Give an explanation of situation
2. Express emotion and will
3. Get into high or laxness
I can give you some example about those things.
First, The fact that 'Give an explanation of situation' ; Moshimneun-sori(sangsa-sori), bisonhaneun-sori and umunmachuyukneun-sori In Chunhyang-ga ; chukwonhaneun-sori, unsanghaneun-sori and bisonhaneun-sori in Shimchung-ga ; unsanghaneun-sori, bisonhaneun-sori and popular folk song in Heungbu-ga. Sangsa-sori which is a song to work out in the field but it's changed like to make Lee - doryung knows namwon's public sentiment and chunhyan's situation.
To give Shim bongsa a information about the situation of his daughter as using Agieruenuen-sori which is a song for nurse a baby.
Second, ‘Express emotion and will’ ; chunjapurihaneun-sori and sujjapurihaneun-sori in chunhyang-ga ; Agiureuneun-sori in shimchung-ga.
Chunhyang song chunjapurihaneun-sori and sujjapurihaneun-sori for expression chunhyang's will to refuse byunsatto's wooing. Shimbongsa's song that Agiureuneun-sori is express his real emotion to daughter's birth.
Third, ‘Get into high or laxness’ ; sulgeuhaneun-sori in chunhyang-ga, baegosajinaeneun-sori and banga-taryung in shimchung-ga Sulgwon-ha-nuen-sori which is a song to ignore Lee do ryoung, Gosajinae-nuen-sori that is a song when Shimchung is going into the Indangsoo, is getting into high spirits.
On the other side, a funny words makes a serious atmosphere relax like to use Bang-A-Taryoung.
In this way, the folk singer have used as a occasion demands in the life but they have used in their way to help develop a story. In conclusion, the singer have sung with keeping its real function but they made it possible to explain role out of story, real mind of protagonist and their strong will to audience, and it makes inner function of the work stronger as to use it.
