This essay is the analysis of the Hogugeori which is one type of the Seoulgutgeori. Hogugeori is less important than other Gutgeoris in Seoulgut. Hogugeori has no noticeable aspects compared with other geori's divinity. Hogugeori is performed in shorter time than other Gutgeori and also has no remarkable shamanic-songs. In Hogugeori's shamanic-song, Hogushin who has falsely murdered appears as a woman's divinity and shortly after disappears, but doesn't say any word which is connected with the purpose of Gut. Relative to man's divinity which appears in many other Gutpan, Hogushin, a woman's divinity, reflects the social positions of women which are inferior to men's at that time. Because of the fear of Shonimshin(Smallpox) and the formalism of the Seoulgut, Hogugeori is alive which do no harm even though it is omitted. Women are mostly in charge of the Shamanism. Such women combine their positions with the atmosphere of Gutpan and then make Hogushin of Seoulgut, We can see the grudge of women at that time in the features of Hogushin who has the considerable power but doesn't display her full ability. The features of Hogushin, who show up the Gutpan covering her face with her red skirt and bring a message from the dead through a medium reciting the Shamanic-song just like utterances, is another expression of the socially suppressed women.
