After two wars -Imjinweiran(Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592) and Byeongjaharan(China Invasion of Korea in 1636)- in the middle of Joseon dynasty, Buddhism has been lost his statue in the upper classes. So the persons who were wholly responsible for buddhist services changed buddhist monks or common classes, buddhism has been changed in the popular character which was based on common classes. In this change, the restoration works was very frequently very in the 17th century, so the restoration and rebuilding of temples had begun in earnest. Especially, at first temple's rebuildings had been begun in the main hall. The noticeable thing is that Avalokitesvara painting was painted at the other side of behind wall of main hall without regard for the main buddha of main hall. This is very interesting thing meaning the Avalokitesvara faith at that time. The present writer studied the change and development of the Avalokitesvara faith through the Avalokitesvara among the buddhist paintings painted frequently in the 17-18th century after Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592 The present writer limit the sphere of this study to the 17-18th century of Joseon dynasty is the reason why at that time the new style of Avalokitesvara painting set. After studying the examples and characteristics of the style of Avalokitesvara painting, these characteristics have something to do with the texts of the sayings of Buddha(眞言) and darani(陀羅尼) in relation with Avalokitesvara faith. Furthermore the present writer attempted to approach the real of Avalokitesvara faith in the late of Joseon dynasty which had changed was based on common classes'.
