The purpose of this study was to estimate the degree of inequality of housing construction market structure in Korea by analyzing and identifying the current state of the market through the sample survey. Among many kinds of methods, the Gini index calculation was chosen as a method for estimating the structure of housing construction market. The variables used in calculating Gini coefficient were as follows; the annually planned number of apartment building units (N), floor size (FS), average sale price per square pyung by region and size (P), average execution rate of project (E), average selling rate of housing construction company (Sr). The estimated Gini index was about 0.6 which showed that the structure of Korean housing construction market is in the state of a relatively severe inequality in 2002. Like this study, the macro analysis on the structure of the market might be periodically needed in order to help setting up a better housing construction policy even though the situation continues which the Census of the above market is impracticable since the population size of the market participants is so variable and unstable.
