War poems that had popular during Korean War were produced by war poets who actually experienced the war at battle fronts. Chungma is one of representative war poets who symbolized war experience with his collection of poems, Along with Infantrymen. Regarding war as a part of nature's cycle, his collection pursues "cycle and reasonableness of nature" as ultimate value. There are some thematic aspects in his collection. One of them is related to self-reflection and contemplation. His collection shows overcoming of dichotomous logic in a self-reflectional attitude. It also describes contradictory parallel of war impact and lyric. Aesthetic features of his collection are as follows. Firstly, reality in battlefield gets smaller by writer's idea. Secondly, writer sees war as image of father and humanism. Thirdly, writer breaks opposition structure of war by seeing war as transcendental mark. In conclusion, this paper asserts that recriticism of Chungma's war poems might be properly done under consideration about extreme situation of war and writer's experience in battlefield.
