This paper, focusing on a new style novel 『Tears of Blood』 written by Lee In-jik in 1986, will show in which way literature of those days reflected people's lives in the rapid changes of society and politics related to First Sino-Japanese War and Russo-Japanese Wars.
『Tears of Blood』 meant the supremacy of North-East Asia moved from China to Japan and reflected a discourse that people of Joseon Dynasty should accept western civilization and make themselves strong.
Things described concretely related to First Sino-Japanese War are (1)First Sino-Japanese War and descriptions of the pain of people (2)reflecting the Enlightenment Thought stimulating new educations and (3)the minimum economic state. And there was a discourse of Asianism disguised as Federalism insisted by Hukuzawa Yukichi and Tarui Tokichi, which made the Korean intellectual people pro-Japanese.
