An American highschool textbook, World History: Patterns of Interaction (Mcdougal Littell, 1999), one of the most widely adopted history textbooks, is a good reader for students with the following wonderful features and presentation arts, which can be adopted for our students.
1. Student Board joins to review the prototype materials for the textbook.
2. Students can easily read to understand the text with coherent Glossary and Vocabulary, and Terms & Names as stepping-stones.
3. Students can naturally get interested in history and enlarge historical understanding with various thoughtful features such as Interact with History, A Voice from the Past, History Maker, Connect to Today, Daily Life, History through Art, Something in Common across Cultures, Global Impact, Spotlight On, Science & Technology, and Different Perspectives.
4. Students can read to understand systematically lots of historical facts with typological explanations and summary charts of the 8 world history themes such as Power & Authority, Religious & Ethical Systems, Revolution, Interaction with Environment, Economics, Cultural Interaction, Empire Building, Science & Technology.
5. Students can become good readers and analyzers with the skillbuilder program and its applicable questions for understanding historical readings, using critical thinking, and exploring historical evidence.
