Rousseau had an ambiguous disposition with regard to body and reason as well as the natural and the artificial Mind. The world of Rousseau existed in a modern world order, but still possessed a savage mind. Most people of the French Revolution in 1789 wanted to live the new age of modernization. Monarchy and noble birth did not offer any sympathy to the Third Class. Hence, aided by Rather by their social unity in the cities, independent people born free, equal, self-sufficient, and unprejudiced wanted to create a new civil society.
Rousseau, whose ideas did affect the Jacobins of the French Revolution, depended on the people of the Third Class. The civil society would be linked in chains ruled by other men or by laws. People' desires and interests for the defense of private property formed chains everywhere. Rousseau's solution to the problem of the civil society was nature, which was often brutal, but happy and good. Even during the Age of Reason, the people would opt for the greater joy of nature and quiet solitude. They would enjoy their right to know under the proposition, How do you feel?"
Rousseau was very concerned about the importance of emotion, sense, and intuition, which create a sensible order for the modern society. Social signs representing sensible beings directly depend on the feelings of human bodies. But the people in a modern complex society, make use of artificial music and reason, and they live in a pseudo-environment in the multi-media era, of which most do not experience a complete picture of the world. The Public opinion still represents, creates, and recreates, with the general will not forming any critical views. Status groups do not have the Status honor of the people. Freedom of the press in modern institutions does not provide the freedom of expression for each individual.
For Rousseau, social life in France began in salons where private lives became public through public opinion. The salon during the French Revolution was the place to exchange news. The publication of news from the uninstitutionalized press" appeared as unmediated public opinion. In addition, the people during the French Revolution enjoyed accidents, creative imagination, and the pursuit of truths. Private lives became public bringing friendship and compassion toward each other. The people who shared harmonious natural music and unmediated communication with exchanged public respect for each other. To Rousseau, liberty and morality were the same. One was free only when behaving morally, guided by the spirit of the general will. Rousseau started with the mind of sensation, but he ended up being a solitary dreamer with an analytical disposition.
