This paper presents a simplified summary of Ken Wilber's 'integral model of human development', which might be one of the most comprehensive and most integrated models in this field.
The central theme of Wilber's 'integral model of human development' is that a integral model need to includes the various developmental aspects studied by psychology and takes into serious account the higher aspects and stages embodied in the world's contemplative disciplines. Wilber asserts that theses various approaches seem to point a universal and cross-cultural basic levels of human development.
In this paper, those three topics--the various levels and stages of consciousness, the transitional aspects and stages of development, and the self (or self-system) as a organizer and navigator of two different structures--are discussed. According to Wilber's integral model, overall development process is not rigid and linear but rather fluid, flowing and overlapping phenomenon.
