The names of three mountains that seem to be the origin of Dongnae and 'Geochil' stemmed from the native tongue, 'Geolda', which means big or numerous. In this case, the giant mountain does not represent Hwangryong-san, but the name of the grand mountain, which is linked with 'Hwangryong-san' 'Keumryeon-san', 'Bae-san' etc. It seems that during the process of transferring the Chinese character to Korean by the pronunciation. Hwangryong to the native tongue 'Geochilmae' an error was occurred : preexisted 'Hanjae', which is Hwangryong, was corresponded as a mountain. At this very moment, people assumed Geochil-san is exactly the same as Hwangryong (Mountain) so they only spotlighted the meaning of Geochil ; therefore, they inscribed 黃(means big) or shifted to 荒(means wild). The giant mountain, precisely, the center of several linked mountains, Hwangryong-san, begun to fixed as the concrete name; as a result, Geochil-san (Nae-san and lang-san), which are the abstract ones, branched into the Bae-san, Keumryeon-san, and Hwangryong-san by the district names.
In conclusion, Dongnae means the new Nae-san and the site of ancient Dongnae, which is surrounded by Keumryeon-san (the rear side), Bae-san (the northern side), and Hwangryong-san (the southern side). In addition, the current lang-san should be called as Sang-san. Also, Bae-san is the other geographical name of Nae-san.
