The Goindol (dolmen) Festival is a representative cultural and historical festival of Ganghwa Island. This paper classifies the motivations of Goindol Festival visitors and examines the differences of motivations among the different groups of visitors classified by the type of motivations. Also, it analyzes the differences in their levels of satisfaction with the festivals in accordance with the types of visitors. This research was conducted on the selected samples from May 4th to 5th, 2008 during the Goindol Festival. In the case of the Goindol Festival, the questionnaires were filled out by self-writing style - writing style and 180 of them were collected in total and 156 (86%) of the 180 questionnaires were used in the analysis. The results were as follows: firstly, the motivations to visit the Goindol Festival were grouped into five dimensions. Secondly, three clusters were conducted by clustering analysis including “multi-purpose seekers,” “family seekers,” and “socialization & relaxation seekers”. Finally, the three clusters of visitors showed differences as well which were statistically significant in five dimensions of satisfaction, namely psychological satisfaction, educational satisfaction, social satisfaction, physical satisfaction, and environmental satisfaction.
