This study is intended to examine the aspects and characters of 'others' as manifested in poems by Kim, Chun-Soo. Though there is some distance between the subject of the work and 'others' in the poem 「물또래」(Plecoptera), one of the poems to be analyzed in this study, there is also some emotional continuity and unity in it. However, in other poems, the otherness of the 'others' appears, which brings about opposition and confrontation between the subject of the work and the 'others'.
The faceless 'others' that his poems such as 「西風賦」(To the West Wind), 「눈물」1(Teardrops 1) and 「꽃을 위한 序詩」(Prelude to Flower) show are well worth noticing in relation to the quests of language and existence. Above all, 「꽃을 위한 序詩」 intimates struggle between the subject of the work and the 'others'. This clearly embodies the limits that the subject of the work has in recognizing 'others', which distinguishes this work from his other poems. In the poem 「눈물」2(Teardrops 2) the 'others' are transcendental beings that exist in a legendary way. Their otherness becomes absolute through the distance and interval between human beings and transcendental entity. The otherness is an abyss which lies between the subject of the work and transcendental entity, and is another aspect of the diversely varied and deepened otherness that the 'others' in his poems have.
