The purpose of this thesis is to contemplate the lives of women's subject under the androcentric society and the paterfamilias in studying and comparing modern women's literatures in Korea and Thailand. The thesis also approaches literatures in that a discussion depends on a woman's 'Peripherality' from a point of feminism and anti-colonialism.
In an androcentric society, when the woman is regarded as 'the second sex,' the woman's recognition about the world comes to be another person and stands on the 'Peripheral part.' This thesis has been studied how can the problems coming from a woman's consciousness be refracted and exposed to its production in dominating ideology of man, and how woman's 'Peripherality' comes to the front like below.
In an androcentric society, maternity occasionally give women deprivation and suffering. Sometimes, the mystery maternity has made patriarchal ideology reasonable that sacrificing and having patience have become woman's original nature and qualities. A patriarchal thinking exposed in Dreaming Incubator of Wanseo Park results in making the connection among a woman, a mother-in-law, and a sister-in-law. This is linked to a man-preference phenomenon; thus, it makes not only the authoritative structures that the men's group dominates the women's group, but also the social systems that women relatively stands behind men by being locked in the patriarchy. At this time, a heroine has an abortion due to the only reason that she is already woman not a man; thus, a woman's body comes to be a foundation and a metaphor of experience. Consequently, my self-awareness is accompanied with guilt feeling, also, hopes to free from a patriarchal limit and wants to run into the core by deviating from the 'Peripheral part.' However, my self-awareness still stands on the 'Peripheral part' and it is internalized as a patriarchal thinking.
On the other hand, Mo thi khud mai ook of Anchan is proving this aspects strongly. A woman always stands on the other side of man. In this situation, a woman's body comes to be an implement between the sexuality and the authority, so in case of economical, social and cultural aspects, a woman can not be put into 'the subject' but the 'Peripheral part.' Due to this aspect, the women's dependency is related to both the patriarchal and the development of capitalism which shows us the result that women fail to build her own identity. A woman character (a heroine) who does not show herself subjectively displays adaptive aspects in a man's dominating ideology. Finally, Anchan suggests realistic situation that a woman's body is expressed as the most visualized form of the suppressed forms.
Both Wanseo Park of Korea and Anchan of Thailand are active writers. These female writers ask readers about the same questions with different subjects without any borders, social, religious, cultural, and political limits. Now that they represent several lives about the 'peripheral part,' a patriarchy on the core with both sexuality and authority and feminine consciousness' problems about an androcentric ideology, they disclose maternity, a woman's consciousness to their literary works.
