The purpose of this paper is to suggest efficient teaching-learning methods and to provide guidelines necessary for designing a teaching-learning model in facilitating interaction in on-line English courses. To achieve this goal, the researchers interviewed 21 learners, 5 instructors, a teaching assistant, an administrative officer, a class tutor, an instructional designer, and a system operator of on-line English courses. Interview questions were carefully designed in advance to obtain responses from the interviewees on various aspects of on-line classes and the data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The research inquiries　were: (1) Which teaching-learning method is efficient in facilitating interaction in on-line English courses (English conversation and composition courses)? (2) Which guidelines are necessary to design a teaching-learning model of facilitating interaction in on-line English courses? Emergent themes include interaction between the instructors and the learners, interaction between the native tutor and the learners, interaction among the learners, interaction between the learners and the contents, interaction between the learners and the teaching assistant, and interaction between the learners and the system operator. Based on these findings, some pedagogical suggestions are made on effective ways of facilitating interaction in English courses in terms of five aspects of the proposed on-line teaching-learning model such as preliminary analysis and operation model development, contents designing, contents production, operation and evaluation.
