This article makes a goal to investigate the time and space of the Three Kingdoms, Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla, in which Samguksagi embraces as the historiographical subjects. The authors of Samguksagi compiled all the previous historical records preserved in Goryeo with focusing on the Three Kingdoms' chronology. It has been viewed substantial and apprehensible, not only for the contemporary compilers but the later scholars of the dynasty, that the compilation should be constituted centering in the three nations. Yet Garyeo intellectuals were apparently acquainted with the fact that their historical basis could not be consist of only the prominent three nations exclusive of other politics such as Balhae and Gaya. All the important histories of Goryeo dynasty including Samguksagi comprise so-called the later Three Kingdoms chronologically, also contain the whole space of 'Samhan(三韓)' or 'Haedong(海東)' which indicate their exclusive domain geographically. Nonetheless and surprisingly, the Goryeo compilers of the histories had not payed the specific attention to the other politics except the Three Kingdoms.
The establishment of reputing very the Three Kingdoms as a collective unit has been originated from the identifiers outside Korea, and provided what should the nations be unified. Within this logical context, 'Three Kingdoms' has been transposed to 'Three Han(韓)'. Both of Silla and Goryeo had confronted with identical rivals which should be overcome and merged into the unified reign. As far as the historical identification was concerned, the later Three Kingdoms which unified under Goryeo dynasty were the revivals of the earlier Three Kingdoms unified under Silla. The former and the latter had not differences in substance. Furthermore as Silla was in need of blocking the historical relationship between Goguryeo and Balhae in order to adhere the justification of unification, as Goryeo again turned away Balhae in respect of it's practical limits or logical completion. In conclusion, the logic of unification behind the political realities of two unified dynasties had compelled the cognition of other politics such as Balhae and Gaya, and in sequential I infer their experiences had been eliminated during the process of compiling of Samguksagi.
