Nowadays researches about the Eco-friendly vehicle, hybrid electric vehicle, fuel cell vehicle and electric vehicle are under active proceeding. Since most of the new energy vehicle has a motor, the regenerative braking system can be used to improve the vehicle energy utilization efficiency.
The regenerative braking system can transform the kinetic energy to the electric energy through the motor in the regenerative braking. This technology played a significant role in achieving the high energy usage. But there are also some limitations in the vehicle driving safety and efficiency for the regenerative braking system. For example, When the vehicle velocity is very low and the battery SOC is too high, the motor or electric product is limited by the change of temperature or conditions. As a result, the mechanical brake system is used to compensate the lack of brake force when the regenerative braking system is limited. Therefore, when the vehicle changes to the mechanical braking, heavy decelerations will occur, which may give driver a feeling of not safe.
In this paper, a fuel cell vehicle simulator installed with EMB is used to simulate the regenerative braking system of Eco-friendly vehicle. Research about combining the regenerative system and mechanical brake system to achieve the vehicle deceleration in an instant time is under developing. Fuel efficiency, safety and driving feeling of the vehicle which has the regenerative braking system are researched to reduce the comfortlessness.
