The purpose of this paper is to compare and analyze thoughts of family of Yangzhou and Taoism, or Mohism, out of them treated in viewpoints of Confucianism and Legalism. studies, which Mencius defines Yangzhou as Mugunjihak(無君之學), and Mohism as Mubujihak(無父之學), were treated so many already. However this definition is not viewpoint of Yangzhou and Motzu, but a one-sided view of Mencius. We need to analyze what this Mencius’s viewpoint of Yangzhou and Motzu propers, or different interpretations is possible. This analysis could play indirectly an important role which might define clearly viewpoint of family of Confucianism and Legalism. For Mencius might criticize excessively thought of Yangzhou and Motzu, and their viewpoint of family which is interpreted by such criticism can not be certain.
Thought of family of Confucianism, Legalism, Yangzhou and Motzu is compared with one another according as how to see affection(benevolence) and Hyo(孝) in the blood relationship, show distinctions among them in accordance with that which strengthen or does not affection and Hyo as ethical virtues. Legalism regarded affection and Hyo as action to meet selfish needs, and Confucianism saw them as the natural, at the same time, that which make people internalization and solidification. Yangzhou or Taoism asserted that since affection and Hyo are the natural, people must not make a performance them by force. Motzu thought that if affection and Hyo is strengthened like Confucianism, there are differences in the between father and son, so that Hyo and affection as concern for everyone(兼愛) originally fades away.
