The purpose of this study is to find ways to improve Chungbuk Province"s historical memorials according to the ongoing research. This study was conducted to suggest ways to commemorate historical events in Chungbuk Province. This study will help develop the province through its cultural and historical contents.
There are total of 168 memorial facilities of 87 monuments, 44 memorial pagodas, 20 statues, 7 memorial parks, and 6 memorial buildings in Chungbuk Province. They are to remember mainly the Dong Hak Peasants’ Revolution, Volunteers, the March1st Movement, the Independence Movement, and wars; about 50% of them were built after the year 2000.
There following are some problems related to the Chungbuk historial memorials. First, most of the memorials are only related to the nation as a whole. There should be memorials treating the province as a whole as well.
Second is the lack of creative and artistic innovation. We should build high artistic and creative memorials in the future.
Third, the location of the memorials are often inappropriate. When we build our memorials in the future, we should consider the historical research as well as the landscape.
Finally, Cungbuk Province needs to make a law to improve thematters suggested in the Province system and control them.
