These days, people live in the world of an ecological risk. The Earth, the only place where human beings can live on, is damaged. With this, air, water and soil, which are considered as a necessary condition for living, are polluted. So Christianity needs to concern about the problem of the conserving the Earth, one of the most serious challenges we have. But, living in the century of the ecological risk, the Christianity runs into criticism that it has no resources to cope with the serious problem. Furthermore, some ecologists say that the Christian religion is one of the main causes to ruin the environment. Also, they say the religion is so human-centered that at least it has shown an indifferent attitude to the Nature or has sticked to a hostile attitude to it. So, they consider that the religion takes an attitude against the environment. They criticize that the conception of the Christian religion that it rules or damages all the creatures on the Earth.
Considering these situations, is it true what the ecologists are insisting? Is it impossible for the Christian religion to have a key to coping with the serious challenge? These questions are unescapable to us who are living in this world as responsible Christian. So, thinking about the problem, what can we answer to the facing challenge?
This treatise shows what the ecologist criticize, thinks of what we can learn from the Holy Bible as the absolute authority and takes a triangular position of the new meaning of the ecological ethics. The ecological ethics based on the Christian religion are going to criticize that all the creatures on the Earth can be controlled by human beings and to understand what is the correct attitude to the environment through the Holy Bible. Therefore, the treatise doesn’t agree with the separation between human beings and the Nature and focus on the harmony of those, moving the religious focus from human beings to all the space.
