Honguewoljeon is a work which demonstrates women’s repressed desire for equality, success and fame, while A persecuted triumphant discloses women’s desire for overcoming women’s poor surroundings in the patriarch as a result of Counter-Reformation. The difference of theses works consists in the fact that the author of Honguewoljeon resists the phallocentric order and Maria de Zayas, author of A Persecuted Triumphant, without parodying or depreciating men, inspires women’s sense of identity indirectly in order to avoid censorship of Counter-Reformation. Maria de Zayas is a popular woman writer corresponding to Cervantes and Lope de Vega in the seventeenth century. Even inspectors such as Francisco Ginoves, who supported a patriarchic values in the level of religion praised her for having influence on women’s moral education. Maria de Zayas didn’t deny in fullface a existing social order (Rich Greer, 40). Nevertheless, the readers in that period got a vicarious satisfaction through female transvestites, who yelled at her male subordinates including her husband and corrected the patriarchal proud and prejudice. In this sense, female transvestism symbolizes the harmony of both sexes and a view-point of the integrated human identity. Seen from this point of view the two author’s intention lies not in the struggle for hegemony between the female and the male but in the creation of harmonious mankind meeting the need of the times.
