Women related facilities with various titles such as women center, women development center, etc. started as welfare facilities and have become compounded as educational and cultural functions are added. Furthermore, the facilities display physical compound with public administration facility for the benefit of local residents or facility for children and young adult Therefore, this paper analyzes the programs and space characteristics of compound facilities for women.
Based on the summary of the findings, although programs of compound facilities for women satisfies the fundamental purpose of welfare, educational, and cultural functions as women facilities, programs are customized per local characteristics and residents’ requests, and are also family oriented as well as local specific. In space aspect, accessible and open space design is employed to enhance participation and provide benefits to local residents, and mainly for newly built facilities, organic shape, use of various color to express women-friendliness or environmental friendly finish materials are used.
Future compound facilities for women should be designed as women friendly and family oriented space along with consideration of program development which satisfies the time and local demand as the facilities become compound.
