According to the recent expansion in the community arts education program out of the culture & arts education, this study discussed about community dance that has great value of being applied even to dance field. For this, it grasped trend, which has been progressed so far, and further surveyed the objective of execution through classifying community dance by type. As for the type-based classification, the community dance was classified by being divided into 3 types such as public agency-driven type, citizen-driven type, and artist-driven type. To elicit a characteristic by type, the standard of classification was surveyed through organization & supervision, program name, subject, year, and objective.
Through this, the following conclusions could be drawn.
First, as a result of analyzing a characteristic by each type, the aim of executing community dance was indicated to be different by type.
Second, the community-related significance could be elicited in community dance by each type. Synthesizing the above results, the trend of community dance up to now could be known to be utilized the community dance as a means of recovering district, healing citizens, enhancing quality of life, utilizing artist’s work, and vitalizing dance. Moreover, the outcome led to being able to know that the community dance is being developed with the definite aim and characteristic in community.
