In this study, it said that Korean and Japanese intellectual"s (bureaucrats and writers) cognition of literature and culture of the age with the segmentation embedded in them were to be analysis and consideration through a discussion meeting of 「National Literature」which was created in the area mixed it up with Korean and Japanese.
The discussion meeting of 「National Literature」was reported 29 times such as 9 times in culture 7 times in literature, 7 times in politics, 2 times in education, 2 times in language, 1 time in religion and associated fine arts of 39 times of issues. However, every field including culture and literature was occasionally shuffled each other. As considered a discussion meeting related with literature from the discussion meeting of 「National Literature」, An atmosphere of exoticism of Japanese literature circles influenced colony literature, and that was generally shown to become overseas literature to be 「The Imperial Metropolis Literature」, 「The National Policy Literature」.
Literature of exoticism was sought in Japanese literature circles under the war basis while Japan was driving with militarism to be in the great powers attempting to geographical spread. Moreover, Japanese intellectuals forced the literature for Japanese empire in colony with colonial policy, and reproduced western orientalism. On the other hand, colonial Korean writers in opposite position were perceived superiority and exclusiveness of conqueror from the discussion meetings, after then they were aiming superficial identification and proceeding to adjust the current situation as the exit if new literature.
A wide variety of aspects were published that they developed solidarity and mutual dependence to overcome the social situation, colony as well as horizontal relationship with the conqueror or appropri action for those surpassing hostile comment. Furthermore, a discussion emphasizing the role of literature with purposed literature was forming corresponding to political demand and the one with educational or hedonic function.
Especially, Japanese intellectuals used and stressed culture mixed with civilization, the symbol of modern times, that established culture image of Japan Empire with modern civilization. In addition, they enhanced oriental art against the west and exploited colonial culture as the tactic for maintenance of power of colonial ruler belonging to Japanese culture. It was to say that culture transformation process utilized politically was seen with emphasis on culture standing modern civilization of Japanese empire in colony.
