Liu-ji, who was actively engaged as a writer at the end of The Yuan Dynasty, is an important person in Chinese fable history. His representative les fables, Liulizi, involves a variety of fictitious characters. The analysis of the characters helps us know its content and characteristic. The main character, Liulizi, has diverse personalities. Firstly, he has a strong will to reform the world. Secondly, he sticks to the self-protective attitude to get along well with the world. Thirdly, withdrawing from the world, he seeks to retire to hermitage in the mountain, which was Ancient Chinese classical scholars’ general lifestyle as well as his view of life. Besides the main character, lots of upright classical scholars come on in the story. They make sacrifices of themselves and say right things to improve society. On the contrary, there are also some classical scholars who isolate themselves from reality and want to escape from the world. Liu-Ji instils right values into people in the world by telling them through a form of fables. This is the most noticeable feature of the fables that he created.
